Each video production is different and unique; however the process is similar for each production.
The first stage of any video production is to define what the video is to achieve, what messages you want to communicate and set yourself a budget for the production.
Don’t worry about the finer points, BMS deal with all that for you. Arranging any briefings, research, location finding and “recces”. We’ll develop a bespoke treatment outline (video content, description and approach to be adopted) as well as final costs which we will agree with you before we start work.
The next stage is to develop a comprehensive shooting script including both the narrative and camera shots, locations and crews allocated from the BMS team.
This could be a single camera or multi-camera video shoot. The camera crew and director will travel to location/s to interview participants and shoot footage to illustrate, illuminate and reinforce the approved script. If required, we will film at a specialist studio so that special effects can be used in post production. One of these effects is the use of chroma-key (green screen) which requires expert use of lighting in a controlled environment. More information about chroma-key filming can be found here.
The first edit stage is to bring all of your material into one of our dedicated edit suites. BMS call this digitisation and it paves the way for your final video production to take shape. Then recorded footage is edited, to the voiceover, graphics, video effects are generated and music and titles are added. The resulting edit is then sent for client approval and we can make as many changes as you need following client feedback. Once you are happy with how your film has been put together we’ll turn the edit project into the final high definition master.
An un-authored video simply plays from the start to the end. BMS add interactivity authoring the footage into a DVD, for example.
An interactive DVD has menus linking to video clips and additional information. Each clip in turn can link to another menu or video chapter.
Encoding is where the video and audio are converted into a different file format, for example MPEG2 for DVD or MP4 for website videos to be streamed.
The mastered film or authored video can be duplicated. This can be to DVD / Blu-ray or even VHS. BMS can produce any number of copies from a single DVD to 10,000 DVD’s.
When planning a video production you will have an idea of how much you want to spend, or have a figure allocated as part of your budget.
Giving a price guide to your production company at the outset, allows BMS to tailor the video production to within your budget.
By contacting BMS our producers will take all of your ideas and produce your film on time and within your budget. Please use our contact form if you would like further information on any of our services.
